Talking Turtle

"Well, hello there."

She stopped and looked up

"You're very pretty.

Show me what you can do."

Try as I might,

I could not get the video to upload.

With her back legs

she demonstrated

building a nest 

using hand-like motions
she pulled and pushed
handsful of earth
creating space
deep enough
to hide her eggs
she covered them with leaves

Fine work little Mama

We missed the hatchlings

that made their way

back to the river
